Have you signed Pat’s petition?

Dear friends and allies,

I don’t normally hit people for petitions but this is important to us all.  Why? There is no such things as ‘us’ and ‘them’ – we are all disabled in some way or another. Even some academics goes as far as saying that every member in society is only temporarily able bodied. This is an issue that is going to affect all of us one day, therefore it should be held close to our hearts.

This petition has been started by a grassroots group called Carerwatch, an organisaton I have come to know through online networking: Twitter. In the past, other forms of direct action have tried to motivate change, but with little success. Prevailing thoughts of ‘this doesn’t affect me’ prevents people from taking action. Petitions reaching 3,000 to 4,000 are not enough! The British public has shown itself to care about the woodlands, with petition numbers reaching 100,000. We need to support our online activist community such as the fellow tweeters I have come to know, as they are a reminder of the importance of direct action.

This really matters, please sign and forward this email onto your friends:

Many Thanks
Louise Hickman.
